I-Day : DC issues stern instructions to protect sanctity of National Flag

Mangalore, Aug 14, 2013 : In the wake of the Independence Day celebrations, the Deputy Commissioner  N Prakash has issued  stern instructions to individuals and organizations to  honour and protect the sanctity of the Indian National Flag while hoisting it on Independence Day.


N Prakash 1As per the DC’s instructions, the National Flag hoisted after sunrise, will have to be lowered before sunset. No one should hoist any torn, soiled or faded national flags.


The DC has also instructed that the National Flag should not be used for any other purpose and in such a  case the  persons found guilty will be penalized. 

He has also warned against using plastic  flags and also against any attempt to touch the flag to the ground and wet it. National  flag images should not be printed on hand kerchiefs, towels or packing materials as this is tantamount to insult to the national flag, the DC said.

He further informed that the public can inform the authorities of any case of offending the national flag by calling toll free no. 1077.
