Mangalore, Aug 26, 2013 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader paid a surprise visit to the Moodbidri Government Hospital on August 25, Sunday evening and took the staff to task for the lack of cleanliness and the absence of senior medical officials in the hospital. Later, he summoned the medical officers and directed them to ensure orderly arrangements in the hospital.
It is learnt none of the doctors were present when the minister visited the hospital at around 3.45 p.m. He even entered the Medical Officer’s chamber and other rooms and spotted none. When the doors of the Operation Theatre was knocked, there was only one un-uniformed nurse inside.
When she was enquired about the absence of staff, she said the medical officials arrived only during evening on Sundays. Later the minister visited the wards and spoke to the patients and enquired about the treatment provided to them.
A woman told the minister that she had paid Rs 3500 for a surgery. Later the minister inspected the male ward and found the toilet unclean. The senior medical officer Dr Rashmi Muralikrishna was summoned and she was directed to solve all problems in the hospital at the earliest and ensure better treatment to the patients.
