Mangalore Today News Network

Naveen SoorinjeMangalore, Feb 26, 2013: Kasturi Channel reporter Naveen Soorinje  arrested in the homestay attack case, still continues to remain behind bars with the state government making no concerted effort towards his release, despite the cabinet at its last meeting held on January 31 resolving to drop charges against him.

According to reports, the Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has not yet signed  the resolution regarding dropping of charges against Soorinje. Even the state cabinet meeting held on February 25, Monday made no attempt to see that the resolution was signed.

In the meantime, sources have revealed that the state government was under pressure by the RSS in this case and that the latter did not want the release of Soorinje. A minister on condition of anonymity also said that the RSS wants the release of all other accused in the case, if the government intends to drop charges against Soorinje.

Even Mangalore North MLA and former minister Krishna Palemar is believed to have told that Soorinje’s release cannot be allowed unless other innocents who have been arrested in the case are released.

It may be recalled here that Soorinje is behind bars since November 7 last year on the charges that he had not intimated the police despite being aware of the happening of the incident well in advance and also for video graphing the event.
