Government has declared 2010 - 2020 as Decade of Innovation - Moily

Mangalore, December 28: M. Veerappa Moily, the union minister for law and justice, said on Tuesday that good governance and constant reformation are required to achieve the government’s goals, as part of which it has declared the years 2010 – 2020 as the “Decade of Innovation.” The area of management is given top priority in countries such as Japan, US, India, and China, he added. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The minister was addressing the audience after receiving the “Outstanding Manager Award 2010” conferred on him by the Mangalore Management Association (MMA) in recognition of his managerial skills. M. Narendra, the chairman and managing director of the Indian Overseas Bank, handed over the award to Moily at a special awards ceremony held at the SDM College of Business Management.

Continuing his speech, Moily said that ultimate reform is possible only through systematic change, not individual effort. Explaining the nature of good governance, he said that it is a dynamic process, not an unvarying phenomenon. He also said that accountability, reformation, and transparency are the features of good governance, according to the Human Rights Commission of United Nations. He also urged the youth to take up innovative activities.

The guest of honor was Dr. P. Dayananda Pai, the managing director of Century Group, who had received this award in 2009.

MMA President M. Shekar Pujari, Vice President T. G. Shenoy, Secretary U. Rama Rao, and former president Dr. Devaraj were also present.
