Mangalore, May 11, 2014: Customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport have seized gold worth Rs 4.14 lakh which was hidden inside a flask by a passenger on May 10, Saturday.
The gold sheet coated in silver and which weighed 116.5 grams was found inside the flask. The passenger was also in possession of three gold coins weighing 24 grams in total. All the gold together was valued at Rs 4,14,370.
The accused passenger is Muneer Pallipuzha of Pallikere in Kasargod. He had arrived by an Air India Express Flight IX 824 from Sharjah.
Krishna Kumar Prasad, Assistant Commissioner of Customs of the Airport led the team which conducted the operations.
Investigations are on under the guidance of Customs Commissioner D Purushottam.
