Kasargod, November 20, 2012: Causing embarrassing and anxious moments to the law and order enforcing authorities, four inmates of the sub-jail here escaped from the prison after attacking the jail warden early on Tuesday.
The apparent pre-planned operation was made at 5.40 a.m. when the four inmates, engaged in the kitchen of the sub-jail, located close to the Taluk office in the heart of the town, attacked Pavithran, the jail warden on duty, inflicting him with stab wounds on his thighs using kitchen knife.

The escaped prisoners are identified as Mohammed Iqbal, a native of Hosabeta, serving jail terms in a murder case, Rajan alias Thekke Rajan, sentenced in an Abkari case, Mohammed Rashad of Hosabeta and Rajesh, hailing from Karmanthode, both convicted in robbery cases.
It was not immediately known as to how they managed to escape from the high wall jail. A special squad has been set up to probe the incident, police sources said.
