Five Mangalorean power lifters return after winning medals at Asian championship

Mangaolore, Sept. 26, 2012: The five Mangalorean power lifters who had represented the country at the Asian Benchpress Powerlifting Championship held in Kazakhstan returned on September 26, Tuesday.

The above-mentioned championship was held in Kazakhstan from September 18 to September 21. Power lifters Vijay Kanchan, Vincent Carlo, Sadanand Amin, Mithun Shetty, U. Laxman, and their coach Kamar Kudroli had represented India in this event.

Powerlifters

U. Laxman and Sadanand Amin won silver medals in the 66kg and 77kg categories, respectively. Vijay Kanchan won the bronze medal in the 105kg category. Vincent Carlo and Mithun Shetty won the fourth place in the 84kg and 93kg categories, respectively.

All five get training at Balanjaneya Gymnasium, Car Street.
