Although reports state that the Western coast of India has nothing to fear, the district administrations of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada have taken all the required precautions.
Several fishing boats returned to the port on the evening of Wednesday, leaving their fishing half done.
Certain areas of DK and Udupi experienced light tremors after a large earthquake of magnitude 8.9 hit the sea off Aceh in Indonesia.
