Mangaluru, Oct 2, 2025: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Wednesday night and expressed his appreciation for the grandeur of the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations.
Marking the occasion of the Bali Utsav, the Deputy CM entered the temple and, following tradition, participated in the Rathotsava (chariot festival) by breaking a coconut near the chariot wheel after the deity’s ceremonial procession. He then joined devotees in pulling the chariot. He offered prayers at the sanctum of Saint Brahmashree Narayana Guru, who established the temple, and paid respects to Goddess Sharada and the Navadurga idols at the Darbar Mantap.
The temple honored the Deputy CM with a ceremonial welcome and prasadam.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivakumar said, "Initially, I didn’t think I’d be able to make it here today. But it feels like Goddess Sharada herself called me. It is my fortune to visit this sacred place founded by Shri Narayana Guru. Witnessing the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations brings me immense joy."
Temple President Jairaj H. Somasundaram welcomed the Deputy CM with a floral tribute.
Also present were temple treasurer Padmaraj R. Poojary, trustees Santosh Poojary, Krutin Amin, Kishore Dandakeri, Development Committee President Devendra Poojary, MESCOM Chairman Harish Kumar, members P.K.
