Mangalore, April 6: The DK district police organized a farewell programme for Dr. A. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, the previous superintendent of police, who has been transferred to Bangalore, at Hotel Ocean Pearl on April 6, Wednesday.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh expressed his appreciation of Dr. Rao and said that he was an innovative and disciplined officer who devised innovative and effective methods of maintaining law and order. He had successfully maintained an atmosphere of law and order in the district, he added.
IGP (western range) Alok Mohan presided over the event and said that the transfer of Dr. A. S. Rao is a loss to DK, but a great gain to the CBI department in Bangalore. Lauding Dr. A. S. Rao, Mr. Mohan said that he is a good person and that there are no words in the dictionary to describe his goodness. He also said that Dr. A. S. Rao was a great team leader who had worked hard to maintain team work and efficiency in the police department.
Speaking about the innovative investigation kit designed by Dr. A. S. Rao, he said that it must be nominated for the national award because it is a useful kit comprising 60 important investigative tools.
Responding to the touching farewell programme arranged in his honor, Dr. A. S. Rao said that he has to control his emotions although it is very difficult for him. Stating that working as the SP in DK was the most memorable time in his career, he said that the public is very supportive of the police and encouraged the police to work for social welfare. He expressed his gratefulness for the support extended by Gopal Hosur, the former IGP (western range) and Ajay Kumar Singh.
He also said that the people of DK appreciate the police officers for their good work and achievements, owing to which he felt inspired to be more creative and innovative in his work. The government has done justice to the district by posting a talented SP in his place, he said.
Expressing his gratefulness toward the media, he said that the media has been of great help to him throughout his career. He also urged the media to continue its good work and concluded his speech by thanking the people of DK for being so supportive and encouraging.
Senior police officials honored Dr. A. S. Rao and his wife Dr. Deepthi Rao with garlands, shawls, fruits, and mementos.
Labhu Ram, the new SP; Prabhakar Sharma, the additional DC; Rohini Katoch, the ASP of Puttur; PA DCP Venkatesh Prasanna; Deputy Superintendent of Police Nanda Kumar; and Deputy Superintendent of Fingerprints Department Harishchandra Hajemady also spoke on the occasion.
Additional SP Prabhakar delivered the welcome address. Deputy Superintendent of Police B. J. Bhandary proposed the vote of thanks. Lanet Castelino, the writer of the Panambur ACP, was the MC of the event.
