Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2025: The 6th Judicial Magistrate First Class Court, Mangaluru, has rejected the bail applications of jail warder Santosh Hosmani and Jayaprakash Bangera, who were arrested for allegedly supplying cannabis to an inmate of the Mangaluru District Prison.
On August 22, personnel of the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force checked Hosmani and found 40 gm of cannabis concealed in his innerwear, along with a packet of tobacco, a mobile charger wire, and a tobacco smoking device. Investigations revealed that Bangera had handed over the contraband to Hosmani for delivery to a prisoner.
Following a complaint by the Superintendent of Prison, the Barke police booked the duo under Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and placed them in judicial custody.
During the hearing, Assistant Public Prosecutor Aron D’Souza Vitla strongly opposed the bail plea, after which the court dismissed the applications.
