Mangalore, April 17, 2013: Rebellion is brewing in the Congress. As per latest reports two disappointed ticket aspirants former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty and former minister Vasanth Salian would be filing their nominations as rebel candidates on April 17, Wednesday.
As already reported, the Congress decision to field BA Moidin Bava from Mangalore North constituency had disappointed Vijaykumar Shetty and his loyalists, while the confirmation of ticket to former MP Vinaykumar Sorake from Kaup constituency has made former minister Vasanth Salian turn up against the party.
According to Hussain Katipalla, Suratkal Block Congress Secretary, Shetty was under pressure from his supporters to contest and will file his nomination as a Congress candidate. It is learnt, the Suratkal Block Congress meeting held on April 16, Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution in this regard. Shetty is expected to file his nomination on Wednesday taking advantage of the fact that the Congress is yet to give B forms to the selected candidates.
Earlier, it was reported that 12 corporators from Mangalore City Corporation had even demanded that Shetty be made the Congress candidate from Mangalore North.
In Kaup, even Vasanth Salian is said to be under pressure to contest. It is now left to be seen as to how the party will handle the situation.
