Bengaluru, Sep 20, 2023: A day after Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Abhinava Halashree Swamiji in the Chaitra Kundapura cheating case from Cuttack in Odisha and brought him back to the city, the police produced him before the court and got his custody for 10 days. The seer is named as accused number three in Rs 5 crore money-for-ticket scam.
With the arrest of Abhinava Halashree Swamiji, the police have arrested all the eight accused in the cheating case.
The seer who heads a mutt in Hirehadagali in Vijayanagara district has been absconding since September 11. He was in Hyderabad and then went to Puri Jagannath before he was arrested in Cuttack.
The police will be interrogating Halashree Seer at the CCB office over the alleged money he received from complainant Govind Babu Pujari.
Chaitra Kundapura, who is accused number 1 in the case has been brought to the CCB office in Chamarajapet and is being interrogated separately in the case.
The CCB police have reportedly seized so far cash and documents worth Rs 2 crore.
