Bengaluru, Sep 21, 2023: A day after Abhinava Halashree seer was arrested and brought back to Bengaluru by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in the Chaitra Kundapura cheating case, they seized Rs 56 lakh cash stashed in the seer’s mutt in Vijayanagara district. The seizure was made after a letter by a person named Pranav Prasad was sent to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abdul Ahad tipping off the cops about money.

A resident of Mysuru, Pranav Prasad on Wednesday evening made a video claiming that he had kept Rs 56 lakh at Halaswamy Mahasamsthana Mutt near Hospet as the cash belonged to Abhinava Halashree seer.

According to Pranav, last week, the seer’s driver named Raju came to his office in Mysuru and asked him to keep the bag which had Rs 60 lakh with him. The driver took Rs 4 lakh from the bag claiming it was to pay the lawyer fee and left the remaining money in Pranav’s office. Pranav claims that despite reminders to collect the money, nobody from the seer’s side came and hence he left the money in the mutt.

A team of CCB officers along with Abhinava Halashree visited the mutt and seized Rs 56 lakh. The money is said to be part of an instalment given by complainant Govind Babu Pujari to get a BJP ticket from the Byndoor constituency of Udupi district.

The CCB police will be conducting an inquest inside the mutt where the discussion of the deal reportedly took place. Pujari had claimed that he had given Rs 1.5 crore to the seer as part of an instalment of Rs 5 crore.
