Mangalore, Nov 24, 2012 : The police have registered cases against Sharan Pumpwell, local Bajrang Dal leader, and Kuntaru Ravish Tantri, vice president of the Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedike, for delivering provocative speeches, as per a complaint lodged at the Pandeshwar Police Station by Mohammed Saifullah of Moodushedde.
At a rally held to protest against cow slaughter, Mr. Pumpwell said that, if cow slaughter continues, there will be a repeat of the communal riots that took place in Mangalore in the recent past. The complainant has reported Mr. Pumpwell as having stated that Hindus will have to use the same weapons used to slaughter cows.
Mr. Saifullah has also complained that Mr. Tantri had said that those involved in cow slaughter will not be allowed to step outside their houses if the anti cow slaughter bill is not passed by Diwali. He also stated that the Bajrang Dal was responsible for the death of 9 Muslims in the communal riots of 1998 and 2002.
The Pandeshwar police wrote back to Mr. Saifullah, stating that they have registered cases under Section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after getting the court’s permission.
