Mangalore, Nov 26, 2012: G. N. Nagaraj, member of the CPI (M) state secretariat, said that the CPI (M) does not approve of blending caste with politics.
Speaking at a press meet held today, he announced that the CPI (M) will hold a convention in Bangalore, adding that CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat will inaugurate it. He also said that the party will collect 5 crore signatures and submit it to the president.
Regarding FDI in retail sector, he said that the bill has still not been passed. Since FDI will lead to rise in prices of essential commodities, it must be withdrawn, he said.
Regarding Naveen Soorinje’s case, he said that the police have booked Naveen under more charges than the 44 real accused in the case. Stating that, if the TV channel was wrong in showing the video footage, even the editor and owner of the TV channel ought to have been arrested, he said that Soorinje was arrested simply because he is a key witness to this case.
