CIL’s “Nurturing Dreams” project takes off at Mullakad Government School

Mangaluru, June 25, 2022: In view of developing overall personality of high school children from Government Schools, city based NGO Centre for Integrated Learning launched its “Nurturing Dreams” – Adopt a School Project at Government High School, Mullakad on Thursday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The year-long project will consist of Motivational Sessions, Life Skill Training, Communication and Language Skill enhancement sessions, exposure visits, field activities, community relevant involvement of students, establishing library and preparing the young minds to inculcate reading habits, value inculcation, study techniques to support academic performance and interaction with leaders from different fields.

The pilot project that began for students of Mullakad School and intended to be extended to more Government Schools, was launched by Prof. M L Sureshnath, Chief Traffic Warden of Mangalore City Police and Retired Professor of St. Aloysius College. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sureshnath exhorted the children to dream and pursue it till the goal is not reached. He pointed out at various live examples where people dreamt and relentlessly pursued to rise to unimaginable levels. “Dream now and a time will come when you can sell your dreams. Else, join hands with a big dream and make the difference”, he remarked.

Enthusing the students, senior journalist and Co-Founder of Centre for Integrated Learning, Srinivasan Nandagopal emphatically drove home the difference between studying and learning while exhorting the children to equip themselves with skill sets that will be useful to face the challenges in future. He elaborated in different activities that will be taken up as part of this project that will provide exposure to the students to make them confident and thereby build their personality.

Speaking on her dream project, Sachitha Nandagopal, Executive Director of Centre for Integrated Learning who has conceptualized this project, stated that there was a need to reach out to more children from Government and rural schools to organize activities that will groom them into effective individual. Our aim is to nurture the dreams of these children so as to benefit the society in the time to come. Expressing her appreciation to the school management for their initiative, she mentioned that more schools will be under this project in future.

Principal of Mullakad Government High School, stressed the need for change in attitude of the children if they have to grow in stature in this competitive world. He expressed confidence that the intervention which is beyond academics, will go a long way in benefiting the students in developing their personality.

Headmaster of Government Primary School, Venugopal was also present on the occasion.

CIL envisages “Nurturing Dreams”, an Adopt-A-School programme to build the future of the children from Government Schools who are deprived in many ways as compared to the so called affluent schools.

The programme targets High Schools (8 – 10th Grade) to build a conducive environment for children to prepare themselves to face the challenges of the future. Along with infrastructure development, it is necessary to develop the caliber of the students in order to achieve the main purpose of schooling.
