Bangalore, Oct 30, 2013: State Home Minister KJ George has informed that the CID report in the Sowjanya rape and murder case is expected to be submitted to the government within a week.

Seventeen year old Sowjanya, a second PUC student of SDM College, Ujire was brutally raped and murdered in October last year.
Though protests are being held across the state to hand over the case to the CBI, the government without buckling under pressure, had continued the CID investigation, despite complaints that some vested interests were trying to influence the probe.
George said a decision on whether to entrust the investigation into the case to the CBI or not would be taken after the CID submits its report. George said so after inaugurating the new building of HSR Layout police station here on October 29, Tuesday.
Vinaykumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister who was also present, said it was improper to hurl allegations against anyone in the case even as investigation is underway. Stating that the truth should come out, Sorake said the government may think of ordering a CBI probe if needed once the CID report is out.
