The CDPO, which received a tip that a female baby has been illegally adopted 23 days back, raided the house, rescued the baby, and took it to Fit Institution in Puttur.

According to preliminary investigations, the child’s history begins at a Catholic organization in Hyderabad where an unwed mother gave birth to her, after which she changed four hands.

Asha Nayak, chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), said that the health workers at a government health clinic in Kinnigoli informed the CDPO that the family taking care of the baby had no pregnancy records.

The head of the family informed officers that an unmarried woman called Rita had handed over the child to him. When the lady was questioned, she admitted that she had illegally adopted the child from the Catholic organization in the second week of October. She had taken the baby to overcome the death of her nephew. The baby was given to the Catholic organization by an unwed mother, who was on the verge of getting married. When Rita’s family came to know that she had illegally adopted the baby, they began forcing Rita to get rid of the baby, after which she gave the child to Sanjeev.

Mrs. Nayak confirmed that the baby was so far not sold to anyone.

The CWC is now trying to trace the child’s mother. It will also get in touch with the Catholic organization. The infant will also be subjected to a thorough medical examination.

So far no complaint has been registered.
