CAA aimed at diverting public attention from pressing issues : Congress leader C M Ibrahim

Mangaluru, Jan 17, 2020:  MLC and former minister C M Ibrahim has accused   Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of creating confusion in the minds of the public through their contradicting statements on CAA and NRC.

 

Speaking to reporters at the Congress office here on January 17, Friday, he said the Citizenship Amendment Act  has been implemented and   NRC issue is brought up just to divert public attention from other pressing issues confronting the  nation.

The government is raking up sensitive issues just to cover up its  follies, he said and also referred to the declining  trend in GDP rates.

On the protests in some major universities including Jamia Milia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University against the CAA, Ibrahim said the government should hear the  appeals of the student community.

MLA  UT Khader, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Corporator Naveen D’Souza and other party leaders were present.
