Moodbidri, Aug 18, 2013: The investigation into the case of burglary of the Siddantha Darshana Mandir of Moodbidri is taking new twists with the passing of each day. Meanwhile, Swasthishree Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Swamiji of Jain Mutt has demanded a CBI Probe as he strongly believes that a CBI investigation may only be able to ensure justice in the case. The seer also feels that a thorough probe may be possible if the Chattisgarh government cooperates.
Sources also revealed that the prime accused Santosh Das and the Chattisgarh jeweler Rajaji Santhathi were close to each other though the former had during interrogations said the two did not know each other well.
The prime accused Das had said that seven idols had been purchased by Rajaji and Ashok Baredi, another influential man, the rest of the idols may be melted. Ashok Baredi owns the AT Jewellers at Raipur. He was also running several business firms belonging to the Chattisgarh PWD Minister and was therefore all likely to exert political influence. It is learnt the mobile data of both Santosh Das and Rajaji Santhathi have been deleted permanently, reportedly by exerting their influence on various departments. It is learnt, Baredi was now evading arrest citing health reasons.
