Sources also revealed that the prime accused Santosh Das and the  Chattisgarh jeweler Rajaji Santhathi were close to each other  though the former had during interrogations said the two did not know each other well.

The prime accused Das had said that seven idols had been purchased by Rajaji and Ashok Baredi, another influential man, the rest of the idols may be melted. Ashok Baredi owns the AT Jewellers at Raipur. He was also running several business firms belonging to the Chattisgarh PWD Minister and was therefore all likely to exert political influence.
