Bantwal : Two teenagers drown in Karinjeshwara Temple pond

Bantwal, April 12, 2013 : In a tragic incident, two youth met a watery grave in the pond of the famous Karinjeshwara Temple here on April 11, Thursday afternoon. The mishap took place when the two were enjoying a dip in the temple pond along with another friend.

The deceased are Athwin D’Mello, son of Thomas and Arcilla D’Mello and Roshan Lasrado(17), son of John and Leena Lasrado. It is learnt, the two along with one Prakash Veigas had been to the temple pond for a swim. Both were reportedly not good at swimming and were drowned. Meanwhile, the third person Prakash swam to the banks and raised an alarm when locals gathered.

The bodies were later recovered. Athwin was a student of KPT in Bantwal. He was also the President of ICYM of Farla Church. Roshan, was a second PUC student of Deepika College, Modankaup. Bantwal police have registered a case.
