Bannanje Ramacharya Memorial Award conferred on five senior journalists

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2012: Bannanje Govindacharya, the renowned write and scholar, conferred the Bannanje Ramacharya Memorial Award on senior journalists at a memorial ceremony organized by K. Sathish Chandra Hegde Green Park Memorial Centre at Lions Bhavan in Brahmagiri

The recipients of this award are Chidambara Baikampady and Damodar Uchil, both former reporters for Kannada Prabha; Manohar Prasad, the chief reporter for Udayavani; Mohammed Arif Padubidri, the senior reporter for Vijaya Karnataka; and Seethalaxmi Karkikodi, the sub editor of Vijaya Karnataka.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The award has been established jointly by Hiriadka K. Sathish Chandra Hegde Memorial Green Park Central School, Padumannur Publications, and Kaup Vidyaniketan Educational Institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Bannanje Govindacharya said that his father and his brother molded him into what he is at present. He said that his brother Bannanje Ramacharya inspired him to speak and write and his father encouraged him to think independently.

The coordinator of Green Park Memorial Centre delivered the introductory address on the occasion. Ambathanay Mudradi, the president of the DK Sahitya Parishad, presided.

Speaking on the occasion, U. R. Sabhapathi, former MLA, said that he was greatly influenced by Bannanje Ramacharya, with whom he has been associated for the past 30 years.

N. Gururaj, the journalist; Sarvajna Acharya, the publisher; Sandhya Shetty, the principal; and V. K. Udyavar, the administrator of Green Park Central School, were also present.
