Bajranga Dal activists stops bus carrying 41 students of Stella Maria Convent alleging conversion.

Mangalore, April 8: 41 students from Stella Maris Orphanage, Ullal, traveling in VRL Bus on the way to Bidar stopped by the Bajranga Dal and BJP activists alleging ‘Religious Conversion’ near PVS circle, Mangalore at 3 PM, April 8.

 

 

 

 

It is alleged that the convent has been sending children to different locations regularly after faith orientation and conversion to Christianity. Children were wearing a ‘Cross’ pendent in their neck which indicates the intention of inculcating Christian faith, the Bajrang Dal activists alleged.

The Hindu activists lead  by Sharan Pumpwell, Srikar Prabhu and Jithendra Kothari stopped the Bus at PVS Circle and  enquired with the students about their whereabouts and religion. Most of the children had Hindu names but were wearing a ‘Cross”. The activists allege that Conversions are done in the name of social welfare service to the downtrodden children. Mr. Swamidas, who was the escorting the children said that some of the children are not of Christian faith but of other religion,

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Bajrang Dal activists called in the Child welfare committee President, Smt. Asha Nayak, who in turn made primary investigation. The children were remanded to the Remand home in Bondel, Kavoor, Mangalore. They were released from the Remand home in the night after the Covent authorities produced legal documents.

The Sister in charge of the Stella Maria Convent has produced necessary legal documents as demanded by the Child welfare committee to prove that the confinement of the Children were not illegal. The children were handed over to the convent as the convent had the legal right to take care of them.
