Backward class leader continues fight against Made Snana

Shivaramu 30nov2011Mangalore, Jan 1, 2011: K. S. Shivaramu, the president of the Karnataka State Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike, who was assaulted for opposing Made Snana at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, will come to Mangalore today to demand a government ban on the old ritual. 


He has informed the media that he will continue fighting against the ritual and that he has been organizing programs to build a support group to ban the ritual. He said that discussions have already been held with progressive organizations in Shimoga, Mandya, Davanagere, Mysore, Channarayapatna, Chitradurga, Bangalore, Bellary, and Gulbarga. 


He said that the heads of over 25 progressive mutts including Yediyoor Mutt, Tontadarya Mutt, Murugarajendra Mutt, Kaginele Mutt, and others will attend a convention at Bangalore on Jan 7 to urge the state government to ban the ritual. 


He also stated that Made Snana is conducted not only in Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, but also at Nagalamadike Subrahmanya Temple near Pavagad in Tumkur,
