Allegations against Dr Heggade is baseless and Intentional: Poojary

Mangalore, Oct 17, 2013: Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary said that the intention of accusing Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade in the Sowjanya rape and murder case is not known.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on October 17, Thursday he said that Sowjanya was raped and murdered a year ago during the Dasara Celebration and AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Kudroli Temple. I visited the family even though I was busy. Immediately I asked her parents if they are suspecting anyone in the crime, but had received the negative answer. But after an year, the victim’s family intentionally alleges Dr Heggade’s family behind the murder. 

He also said that the CBI investigations must be conducted into the case and Dr Heggade had asked the same. This will help Dr Heggade to retain his tarnished image.

Dr Heggade has gained good reputation in the society for his various social welfare programmes, hence some people are trying to slander his name. Sowjanya’s soul in the heaven will also cry for such baseless allegations against Dr Heggade, he added.

He also said that Dr Heggade would not ask former home minister R Ashok to undertake detailed investigation into the case, if his family member had committed the crime.

Poojary urged chief minister Siddharamaiah to compensate the amount of Rs 5 lakh to Sowjanya’s family and also conduct the CBI investigation for clarification. The government must also take strict action against people trying to blot Dr Heggade’s image.

Dr Heggade will hold the same respect in my heart until he is proved guilty and if people provide proper evidence in the case or negligence in investigation, then will surely will the fight to fight against it.
