Mangaluru, Sept 30, 2023: The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (Credai), Mangaluru chapter, had temporarily halted its skill development program for Construction Workers during the time of pandemic is now preparing to relaunch the program.
This initiative is designed to enhance the skills of construction workers, particularly those with some educational qualifications, by providing training in various aspects of the industry such as masonry, electrical work, plumbing, tiling, painting, and related areas.
Vinod AR Pinto, the President of Credai, Mangaluru chapter, explained that the program had initially started in Mangaluru but had to be suspended within a few months due to the pandemic. He stated that there are plans at the national level to enhance and expand the program. The blueprint for these improvements is currently in development and is expected to be launched within the next two months. In the past, the training consisted of a combination of practical and theoretical sessions conducted by resource persons, both on-site and off-site.
In the revamped program, Credai intends to collaborate with industries that specialize in construction-related machinery and other relevant sectors. Typically, the skill development initiative takes place on Saturdays, and employers compensate workers for their time on that day.
The primary goal of this program is to elevate the skills of construction workers, which, in turn, can lead to increased productivity. Additionally, the training opens up entrepreneurial opportunities for construction workers, further enhancing their career prospects.
