Mangalore, Apr 12, 2012 : An alert staff member prevented a major tragedy at a petrol bunk in Ujjodi. A tanker that was on its way to Thokkottu from Mangalore developed problems when it reached Ujjodi and smoke and flames began emanating from it. However, the driver parked the tanker near the petrol bunk instead of taking it to the garage at the earliest possible.
He told the staff at the petrol bunk that the rear tyre had caught fire and was just about to reverse the tanker and park it inside the petrol bunk.
The petrol bunk staff realized the danger, stopped the driver in time, and pulled out water hoses to douse the flames. They managed to put off the flames in time and saved the petrol bunk from going up in an explosion.
