“Sagara Kavacha” exercise: ‘Bomb’ found on Netravathi Bridge!

Mangaluru, Dec 11, 2014  : A ‘Bomb’ were traced  on  the Netravathi bridge on December 11, Thursday, much to the initial panic of  Mangalureans. However later it came to light that the fake bomb was  traced  as part of the “Sagara Kavacha”,  mock exercise  conducted by the Dakshina Kannada District Police Department to check the preparedness of the police and other security agencies in the event of any  emergency.The operation is to keep the security agencies and the police to be prepared to face any  eventuality.

There were anxious onlookers as police personnel, fire fighters, bomb disposal squad and canine squad were at the bridge in search of a bomb following a message sent by the police control room  to the Ullal Police station that a bomb has been planted at the Netravathi bridge.After an intense search a bundle with  the word explosive written on it was found in the middle of the bridge and the same was ‘defused’ by the bomb defusal squad.

The entire operation lasted for nearly three hours.
