Mangalore Today News Network

Telangana, June 26, 2025: A 34-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh drove her car on a railway track in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, sparking panic among the staff and causing train services to either get suspended or diverted.

The incident, a video of which has gone viral, took place near Shankarpally. A 13-second slip showed the four wheeler - a Kia Sonet - being driven along the railway tracks.

Another video showed local residents and the railway staff and police struggling to bring the woman out of the car. After the crowd manages to bring her out and tie her hands, she is heard shouting in Hindi "open my hands", a third clip showed.

"Several railway staff and police personnel ran behind the car. They managed to make her halt the car. Some 20 people were needed to bring her out of the car. There was zero cooperation from her," one of the sources said.

According to Chandana Deepti, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Railway Police, the woman was aggressive and appeared to be mentally disturbed.

"A preliminary probe into the matter revealed she worked with a multi-national company until recently. She is from Uttar Pradesh," Ms Deepti said.

"We have recovered her driving licence and PAN card from the vehicle," she added.

The SP also said that efforts are underway to ascertain if the woman was planning to die by suicide and portray the incident as a murder.

Railway sources said at least 10-15 passenger trains, including a Bengaluru-Hyderabad train, were diverted as a precautionary measure.

The woman has been taken into custody and a probe is underway, the police said.
