New Delhi, Dec 3, 2023: K Chandrashekhar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi on Sunday conceded defeat in Telangana Assembly elections after the Congress crossed the majority mark early in the day and remained on top. Celebrations have begun in Hyderabad as the Congress leads on over 60 seats. Taking to X, party leader KTR congratulated the Congress on winning the mandate and wished them good luck.

Telangana Assembly result

The grand old party surged ahead on 65 seats, leaving behind the ruling BRS with only 40. The BJP and AIMIM are trailing with leads in 8 and 6 seats, respectively. In the 119-seat Telangana Assembly, the parties will need to reach the magic number of 60 to form a government.

Revanth Reddy, Telangana Congress chief, called for co-operation in the functioning of the government as his party raced ahead of incumbent BRS. "This should be the spirit for the functioning of the government. We will make policies, but suggestion is opposition’s responsibility," he said, pointing out that top BRS leader KTR has welcomed the Congress party’s win in the state.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao expressed his disappointment over his party performance in Telangana and congratulated the Congress. "Grateful to the people of Telangana for giving the BRS party two consecutive terms of government. Not saddened over the result today, but surely disappointed as it was not in the expected lines for us. But we will take this in our stride as a learning and will bounce back. Congratulations to the Congress party on winning the mandate. Wishing you Good Luck," KTR posted on X.

Our Bond With Telangana Unbreakable: PM Modi
The bond with Telangana is unbreakable and the BJP will continue to work for the people of the state, underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after the KCR-led party conceded defeat and the Congress emerged the big winner. The BJP was a distant third. The PM spotlighted that the BJP has been gaining ground in the southern state and that it will keep working to build that further up.
