Mangalore Today News Network

Patna, Oct 26, 2025: With less than two weeks to go for the high-stakes Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Opposition alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav announced a slew of promises aimed at strengthening the Panchayati Raj system and traditional occupations in the state.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday alongside Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahani, who has been named the alliance’s Deputy Chief Ministerial face, Yadav said, “If the INDIA bloc is voted to power, the allowances of representatives of Bihar’s Panchayati Raj institutions will be doubled.”

Bihar Assembly elections Promises

He further announced that panchayat and Gram Kachahari representatives will be provided pension benefits and covered under a ₹50 lakh insurance scheme. “We will also increase the margin of those working in the public distribution system,” Yadav added.

Promising support for traditional artisans, he said individuals engaged in pottery, blacksmithing, and carpentry would be eligible for an interest-free loan of ₹5 lakh to expand their businesses.

Asserting that Bihar was ready for change, Yadav said, “People have given the NDA 20 years. We are asking for just 20 months to prove ourselves. We will make Bihar the number one state.”

Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. The ruling NDA comprises the Janata Dal (United), BJP, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, while the Opposition Mahagathbandhan includes the RJD, Congress, Left parties, and Sahani’s VIP.

Dismissing rumours of internal rifts within the Opposition alliance, Yadav said, “Mukesh Sahani and I are campaigning together. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will also join the campaign soon. Our manifesto discussions are complete. There are no issues within our alliance — the problems lie within the NDA.”
