Lucknow/Kannur, Aug 31, 2025: At least seven people were killed and several others are feared trapped after a massive explosion ripped through a firecracker factory in the Gudamba police station limits of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday morning.
Police and local authorities rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations to prevent further casualties. Ambulances were stationed outside the badly damaged factory as crowds of locals gathered in the area.
This incident comes a day after a similar tragedy in Kerala, where one person was killed and another injured in a powerful blast at a rented house in Kannur’s Kannapuram on Saturday. Police clarified that the explosion was caused by firecrackers and not a crude bomb, as initially suspected.
The deceased was identified as Muhammed Asham, a resident of Chalad, Kannur. The house was rented by Anoop Malik of Alavil, and Asham was reportedly his relative.
Investigations are underway in both Lucknow and Kannur to ascertain the exact cause of the explosions.
