Raj Kundra sent to police custody till July 23 in Mumbai porn videos case

Mumbai, Jul 20, 2021: Businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, has been sent to police custody till July 23. He was arrested on Monday night in a case related to the alleged creation of pornographic films and streaming them through some apps.

 

Kundra’s mobile phone has also been seized.

The 45-year-old was taken into custody by the Crime Branch on Monday after being booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act, Mumbai Police said.

Kundra is said to be the key conspirator in the case, police said, adding that they have enough evidence against him. The case was registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act at the Malwani police station on February 4, 2021.

The businessman’s arrest was followed by the arrest of one Ryan John on Tuesday from Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Raj Kundra’s WhatsApp chats with 4 others under probe

According to sources in the Mumbai Police, a probe into the porn videos case has pointed to links between Kundra and four others, who allegedly were part of a WhatsApp group that discussed payments and marketing of production of the said pornographic videos.

The other four were identified as Pradeep Bakshi, Megha Viaan ‘accounts’, Rob Digital Marketing Hotshot and Raw Evans, content head of Hotshots, in the screenshots of their supposed chats.

Actress Sagarika Shona Suman accusations against Raj Kundra

In February, actress Sagarika Shona Suman claimed that Raj Kundra had asked her for a nude audition.

Elaborating on the same, she said, "My worst experience was when I was asked to give a nude audition on a video call. I refused to give the audition. There were many people on the call like Umesh Kamat, who is Raj Kundra’s assistant. One person’s face was not visible but I think he was Raj Kundra because Umesh Kamat was constantly saying that all the sites are run by Raj Kundra. I want to ask why is Raj Kundra not being arrested?"
