Man kills wife, travels with her severed head on scooter in Bengaluru outskirts

Bengaluru, June 7, 2025: A man allegedly beheaded his wife following a heated argument on the outskirts of the city on Friday night.

This occurred at Heelalige village, near Chandapura, Anekal taluk. The deceased has been identified as Hebbagodi resident Manasa (26).

The incident came to light late on Friday night when police officers deployed on the Chandapura-Anekal main road, stopped to question Shankar, the accused, after seeing his bloodied clothes, said a senior police officer in Anekal.

"He was riding his scooter around 11.30 pm when the police on the road noticed blood on his clothes and asked him to stop. That’s when they discovered her head on the scooter footboard," the officer said.

He was hauled to the police station, where a case was registered around 1.30 am on Saturday.

Twenty-six-year-old Shankar and Manasa got married over five years ago and have a three-year-old daughter together. They were living in a rented home in Heelalige. Both of them worked in private firms -- he worked in Koramangala while she worked in Bommasandra.

Preliminary investigation findings show that the accused recently discovered that his wife was in an extramarital affair. An enraged Shankar asked her to leave the house, and she reportedly did so, moving out to live in a paying guest accommodation for a few days. The man she was having an affair with also ran away, said the police.

She returned to work out a compromise, citing their daughter as a reason, but they couldn’t come to an agreement, he reportedly told the police. On Saturday, during a heated argument, he took an axe that was lying around at home to kill her.

Investigation is underway.
