Indore: Two Australian Women Cricketers Molested, Suspect Arrested

Indore, Oct 26, 2025: Two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup were allegedly stalked and molested by a man on a motorcycle in Indore on Saturday morning. The accused, Aqeel Khan, was arrested within hours.

The players, staying at Radisson Blu Hotel, had stepped out for a walk towards a nearby café in Khajrana Road when the incident occurred. According to Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi, the man followed them and touched one player inappropriately before fleeing.

The players immediately alerted their team’s security, triggering an SOS and prompting a rapid police response. Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra recorded their statements and filed a First Information Report under Sections 74 (outraging a woman’s modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A bystander noted the motorcycle’s registration, helping police apprehend Khan, who has prior criminal cases. Investigations are ongoing.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia condemned the incident, praising Madhya Pradesh Police for their swift action and assuring a review of safety protocols. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association expressed shock and called the incident “traumatic and unacceptable.”
