Haveri, May 1, 2025: A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) driver-cum-conductor has sparked public debate after allegedly pausing his bus mid-journey to perform namaz, with a video of the act going viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening on a KSRTC route between Hangal and Vishalgarh. Sources indicate that the driver stopped the bus between Hubballi and Haveri and offered namaz while seated in a passenger seat just behind the driver’s cabin.
A co-passenger captured the moment on video and uploaded it online, where it quickly gained widespread attention and triggered discussions across various platforms.
As of now, KSRTC has not released an official statement. Meanwhile, several right-wing groups have condemned the driver’s actions, arguing that personal religious observances should not interfere with public service responsibilities. They have called for disciplinary action from the transport authorities.
This incident adds to a series of recent controversies involving KSRTC personnel, raising broader questions about employee conduct and accountability.
