New Delhi, Aug 3, 2025: The Election Commission has asked Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav to furnish details of the voter ID card he showcased during a press conference on August 2, in which he claimed his name was missing from the draft voter list.
In a notice sent to Yadav, the Commission said, “After investigation, it was found that your name is mentioned at serial number 416 of polling station number 204 (Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University), with EPIC number RAB0456228. However, during your press conference, you cited EPIC number RAB2916120, which does not appear to be officially issued.”
The poll panel has firmly denied Yadav’s allegation and said the EPIC number he mentioned is not valid. He has been asked to submit details and the original copy of the voter ID card presented during his media briefing for further verification.
Yadav’s allegation came a day after the Commission released the draft electoral rolls following the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. At the press conference, he had also referred to the EC’s explanation about the removal of 65 lakh voters due to deaths and migration.
