CM Fadnavis Rebukes Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations of Maharashtra Poll Rigging

Mangalore Today News Network

Pune, June 8, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of rigging in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, calling them baseless and an insult to voters.

Addressing reporters in Pune, Fadnavis responded with a poetic jibe, criticizing Gandhi’s repeated missteps. "Ta-umr Rahul Gandhi aap yahi galti karte rahe, dhool chehre pe thi aur aap aina saaf karte rahe (Throughout your life, Rahul Gandhi, you have always made the same mistake; the dust was on your face, but you kept cleaning the mirror)," Fadnavis said in Hindi.

The Chief Minister further described Gandhi’s claims as "nonsense," "a lie," and reflective of his party’s disconnect from reality. "Rahul Gandhi has essentially conceded his defeat in Bihar. Until he steps into the real world and stops misleading people and his own party with false hopes, the Congress will continue to falter," Fadnavis remarked.

Fadnavis also accused Gandhi of undermining voters. "He needs to wake up and understand the ground reality. Otherwise, he will continue speaking nonsense, lying, and insulting the electorate," he said.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that the Maharashtra Assembly elections held in November 2024 were manipulated and warned of a similar scenario in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi urged the Election Commission of India to release consolidated, digital, and machine-readable voter rolls for recent elections, including those in Maharashtra.

Fadnavis’s remarks reflect the BJP’s firm stance against the Congress leader’s allegations, setting the stage for a heated political debate ahead of the Bihar polls.
