Belagavi: Minor girl gang-raped; 3 arrested

Belagavi, June 02, 2025: The police on Sunday said they have arrested three persons for repeatedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl and have taken two minor boys into custody for their alleged involvement in the crime.
A manhunt has been launched to nab another accused who is absconding, City Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said at a presser.
The shocking crime came to light after an FIR was registered on Saturday against six persons for allegedly raping the girl at the APMC Police Station in the city. The police managed to nab the accused within 24 hours of the lodging of the complaint. Both the victim and the accused are from Belagavi district, Borase said.
According to the police, the minor girl was initially befriended by one of the accused.In December 2024, the accused tricked the girl to accompany them to a place, where she was gang-raped.
The accused made a video of the incident. In January 2025, they blackmailed the girl using the video and again gang-raped her, Borase said, adding the crime had happened in different places. Efforts are on to ensure that the accused get severe punishment, he added.
