‘One Govt Job For Every Household’: Tejashwi Yadav makes big promise ahead of Bihar Election

Mangalore Today News Network

Bihar, Oct 9, 2025: In a big pre-election announcement, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday promised that every household in Bihar would get at least one government job if his party comes to power, calling it a “historic and revolutionary" step.

“As soon as the government is formed, within 20 months, there will be no household in Bihar without a government job," Tejashwi said, addressing supporters.

He added that his first act after assuming office would be to sign the proposal in the very first cabinet meeting. Calling it only the beginning of a series of major announcements, Tejashwi said, “This is the first announcement, not the final one. Many more will follow."

“We have studied this scientifically, and we have data of all such families based on our survey. If we are making this announcement, it is my pledge that we are doing only what is possible. This is not ‘jumlebaazi’, we are not cheating anyone. Tejashwi does not need to give proof," he said.

Soon after making this announcement, in a post on X, Tejashwi Yadav wrote, “Under economic justice, we have made a historic and transformative announcement today. Every family in Bihar that does not have a government job will be mandatorily provided with a job through a new act."

He recalled his 2020 poll promise of creating 10 lakh jobs and said that while the current government “did not even consider giving jobs for 20 years," it was only “under Tejashwi’s pressure that jobs were given in Bihar."

“The NDA could not provide jobs to the youth in 20 years. We will bring the Act within 20 days of coming to power, and implementation will be ensured in 20 months," said the former deputy chief minister at a press conference.

“I had promised government jobs in the last assembly polls as well. During the brief period I was in power, five lakh jobs were provided. You can imagine what could be possible had I got a five-year term," said the 35-year-old leader.

Taking aim at the ruling NDA, the RJD leader said the current administration has “replaced jobs with unemployment allowance," and vowed to reverse that trend if elected.

Bihar Election 2025

The announcement comes just weeks ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, where voting will take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.

According to the Election Commission, the final voters’ list includes 7.42 crore electors, compared to 7.89 crore as of June this year. The poll body said that around 65 lakh names were removed from the draft rolls, and the number of electors in the updated list as of August 1, 2025, stood at 7.24 crore.
