Mangaluru, Oct. 16, 2026: HYDGEN has inaugurated a new electrolyser manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 20 MW at Ganjimutt in Mangaluru and unveiled its 250 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers, marking a significant step in India’s green hydrogen sector.
The facility was inaugurated and the new electrolysers unveiled by MP Captain Brijesh Chowta and Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Y. Bharath Shetty during HYDGEN Innovation Day 2026, held at the company’s manufacturing facility in Ganjimutt.

The newly unveiled electrolysers have been designed, assembled and tested in Mangaluru to meet the growing demand for hydrogen production.
The event was attended by HYDGEN Co-Founder and Chairman Dr Michael Gryseels, Transition VC Founder and Managing Partner Mohammad Shoeb Ali, AAGM Founder and CEO Dr Avishek Kumar, HYDGEN Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr Goutam Kumar Dalapati, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Dr Krishna Kumar, Corporate Director Ramyasri DS, industry representatives and other invitees.

Addressing the gathering, Captain Chowta highlighted the importance of the ’Back to Ooru’ initiative, which encourages professionals and entrepreneurs to return to their hometowns and contribute to regional development. He congratulated HYDGEN’s promoters, directors and team for establishing and expanding the venture in Mangaluru.
He expressed hope that the company’s growth would generate employment opportunities for local people and contribute to the region’s economic development.
In his introductory address, Dr Gryseels thanked the HYDGEN team for its dedication and contribution to the company’s progress. He said the achievements showcased at Innovation Day reflected the team’s sustained efforts, much of which took place behind the scenes.
He said the event aimed to encourage open discussions, practical learning and new partnerships. He urged participants to ask questions, challenge assumptions and share their experiences to help the company improve its products and make informed decisions.
Dr Shetty congratulated the HYDGEN team on establishing the manufacturing facility in Ganjimutt, which falls under his constituency, Mangaluru City North. He welcomed the investment and wished the company success in its future endeavours.
Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader conveyed his best wishes to the company through a message, expressing support for the initiative.
Mohammad Shoeb Ali praised the team’s efforts in advancing hydrogen technology and establishing the manufacturing facility, while Dr Avishek Kumar highlighted its potential to strengthen hydrogen technology development and industrial manufacturing in India.
Expanding green hydrogen operations
According to the company, HYDGEN has executed more than 20 projects across India, Singapore and Thailand over the past 12 months, recording sales exceeding USD 1 million.
The new facility is intended to support growing demand for larger systems, serve more customers and develop a local network of component suppliers. It will cater to customers in India and overseas.
The facility tour during Innovation Day covered stack assembly, system integration, testing and hydrogen quality checks. The programme also featured a keynote address by Dr Ashish Lele, Director of CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, on the transition of hydrogen technologies from laboratory research to commercial applications.
Expert sessions and panel discussions focused on scaling membrane electrolysers from pilot units to multi-megawatt plants, the industrial benefits of on-site hydrogen production and financing strategies to reduce hydrogen costs.
The programme brought together policymakers, government officials, researchers, academics, investors and entrepreneurs from across India.
Focus on industrial hydrogen production
HYDGEN designs and manufactures modular PEM and AEM electrolyser systems that generate hydrogen on-site and on demand for industrial users. Its operations at Ganjimutt bring research and development, membrane and catalyst development, stack manufacturing, system assembly, testing and quality checks under one roof.
The company’s solutions cater to industries such as lab-grown diamonds, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors, where reliable supplies of high-purity hydrogen are essential.
A significant share of its electrolyser units has been supplied to diamond manufacturing companies in Surat, Gujarat, a major centre for India’s diamond industry. These installations reflect the growing adoption of on-site hydrogen generation in the lab-grown diamond sector, where consistent supplies of high-purity hydrogen are critical to manufacturing operations.
With projects across India and Southeast Asia, HYDGEN aims to expand India’s domestic capabilities in industrial hydrogen production and supply its technology to customers in domestic and international markets.
