American woman moves to Bihar village after marriage, shares glimpses of her desi life

Bihar, Sep 18, 2026: An American woman who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, has swapped life in the US for the everyday rhythms of a rural village in Bihar after marrying an Indian man. Hope, who now lives in Bihar with her husband and their young son, has been documenting her unusual cross-cultural life on Instagram. Her story has attracted attention because, rather than moving from India to the US in search of a different lifestyle, she made the journey in the opposite direction.

Hope first visited India in October 2025 and has now been living in a Bihar village with her family for around six months. She married her husband, Abhisekh Singh, in 2023.

Her social media videos offer glimpses into her daily routine, far removed from the image of India often seen through the lens of tourism. From washing clothes by hand in a plastic tub and doing dishes to preparing meals on a traditional stove, Hope regularly shares the ordinary tasks that have become part of her life in the village.

Her videos also show her embracing Indian clothing and customs. She is frequently seen wearing kurtas and sarees and has shared get-ready-with-me videos featuring sindoor.

Food is another major part of her content. Hope regularly prepares Indian dishes using fresh ingredients and has shared recipes for popular foods such as samosa chaat and pav bhaji. She has also been seen making rotis and attempting to communicate in the local language.

Many of her videos are centred around the simple theme of an American woman living in a small village in Bihar, giving viewers a look at everything from household chores and cooking to family routines.

Is it genuine love, spirituality, a search for “karma” or enlightenment, or some kind of personal life experiment? Because the contrast is so extreme that I honestly struggle to understand it."
