Woman flashes breasts in Google Maps so now Google is teaching algorithms to detect nudity

Mangalore Today News Network

A quite road along Pingtung County in Taiwan has suddenly become a sight of tourist attraction on Google Maps, thanks to a raunchy video uploaded by a woman showing her bare breasts. The video which has racked up hundreds of five-star reviews for the spot shows a local woman checking over her shoulder before pulling down the neckline of her pink top and exposing her breasts while flirting with the camera.

The 18-second video clip, which has been preserved by the New Your Post, became an instant hit among the locals in the area which is primarily known for farming. Some of the local residents who saw the viral footage even joked about driving to the site "straight away".

As per the report, the video was shared from an account which hasn’t been linked to anyone and the local media has been referring to the woman in the video, which is also being shared on Facebook, as "western". The report also notes that the woman in the video could also be a Local Guide- a user who regularly contributes reviews and images on Google Maps. However, not much is not known about the person who uploaded the video at this point.

Last September, Google opened its platform to Local Guides allowing them to share videos and images on Google Maps. But a nude video is probably not what Google might have anticipated to go live on Maps at the time.

Maps User Contributed Content Policy clearly states that it does not allow sexually explicit content on Google Maps. "We don’t allow content that contains sexually explicit material. Also, we absolutely don’t allow content that sexually exploits children or present them in a sexual manner. We will remove this type of content, shut down the account, and send a report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement," its policy states.

True to its words, Google has already removed the video and is now investigating how the video was uploaded on to the platform. The company is also working on strengthening the automatic detection system. And that process may involve someone in Google feeding nude images into company’s machine learning systems so that algorithms learn to identify bare breasts, somewhat similar to what Facebook does to teach its algorithms about the explicit content.
