Stating that arriving late for exams because of traffic jams can be stressful for students and in such cases, the availability of a helpline at examination centres can enable students to inform the centre and officials could then assist the students. Ms. Bhat however did not clarify how officials can assist students caught up in traffic jams.

In response to this instruction, Moses Jayashekar, the deputy director of Public Instruction, said that he does not feel the need for a helpline for SSLC students because there are SSLC exam centres every 3kms. But a representative from the pre university department felt that a helpline should be made available for PUC students.

 K. N. Vijay Prakash, the chief executive officer of the Zilla Panchayat, said that the panchayat had taken steps to ensure that DK did not fall behind in SSLC results this time. A few years back, DK was always the SSLC topper, but these years, other districts have gone ahead of DK. He said that special classes were conducted for government school students in English, mathematics, and science.
