Mangalore, Dec 5, 2012: The Karnataka Janatha Party of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa is trying to establish its base in Dakshina Kannada district, considered a stronghold of the BJP, a party with which BSY severed ties recently.

A preparatory meeting was convened at the Sahodaya Hall at Balmatta in Mangalore on December 4, Tuesday. Jagadish Hiremani, State Committee Member of the KJP who addressed the meeting informed that the KJP will be holding a convention at Haveri on December 9 and added a similar convention will be held in Mangalore too to strengthen its organization.


He was all praise for Yeddyurappa and said the government under Yeddyurappa’s tenure had done remarkable progress. He also claimed that the state was ranked first in development during the tenure of Yeddyurappa.


Over 50 persons joined the KJP on the occasion. Ramachandra Baikampady, hitherto associated with the BJP, Azeez Baikampady, Narayan Bhat and Ananth Prabhu who have joined the KJP were also present on the occasion.


Reports meanwhile said that Ramachandra Baikampady has already tendered his resignation to the BJP.
