World Environment Day in City by "Bella Baajal"

Mangalore, June 05, 2014: Marking World Environment Day June 5, the Yethinahole Yojane Virodhi Horata Samithi (YYVHS) organized "Bella Baajal", at Hampankatta Circle. Traditional songs by Aati Kalenja group,  distributed Jaggery and water to the gathering launched the occassion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lecturer of Vivekananda College Puttur, Dr Shrisha Kumar said that in DK district Mescom, KSRTC and any others are not showing any loss but the state government is in loss. In DK district the people are living in a systematic way but the government is looting the people  by Netravathi river diversion project and so on.

Government is giving false information and cheating the people in the name of Yethinahole diversion project.
The recent rains have given enough water or by now in DK would have faced severe water crisis. If we will not raise our voices against the Yethinahole project we will not be able to stop the project and in the coming days   water to drink will not be available.
 
Dr Shrisha said all should join hands and fight against the political forces to stop the Yethinahole project from coming up. If this project proceeds the people will face no end of suffering and disturbances in the near future

Member of the YYVHS Suresh Shetty said, "In 21 years control of  Malaria has failed, DK is in number one  in malaria in the state and soon will be number one in the country. The reason is people are not coming out and complaining. If the administration has to succeed in preventing Malaria, people should come out and inform the Health department".

Suresh added, we need to fight against the Yethinahole project from coming up. Many environmentalists are fighting against this project. He urged the people to join hands with the YYVHS members and save Nethravati river from being diverted to other states.

Member of YYVHS M G Hegde speaking on the occasion said that the State Congress is suppressing the people of DK. Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation M B Patil has urged the Union Water Resources Minister to approve irrigation projects for which the State government had presented proposals and released funds. 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has already submitted a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi to provide water to Tamilnadu through Kolar. He asked, in the Yethinahole project M B Patil, Siddaramaiah, Ramanath Rai and others will get a lot of kickbacks surely. If this situation continues peoples anger will crush the ministers sooner than in 4 years.
