Mangalore, July 22, 2013: Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has declared that he would not allow the proposed ultra mega thermal power project at Niddodi.
Addressing the villagers of Niddodi after inspecting the site said to have been identified for the plant, the MP assured the villagers that he would lead the agitation against the project. When government officials have themselves conducted a site inspection, the statement that the government has no information regarding the project was false, Nalin said. “The project will not be allowed at any cost; I am with you,” Nalin assured the villagers.

Speaking to reporters later, Nalin said it would be an apolitical fight. He said he could not raise the issue in the previous Lok Sabha session as the state elections were being held then. He said he would meet the Union Minister concerned along with local elected representatives and urge him to drop the project.
Nalin earlier visited the site said to have been earmarked for the project along with members of the Matrabhoomi Samrakshana Samithi and heard the grievances of the locals.
BJP Leader Umanath Kotian, Eshwar Kateel, Janardhan Gowda, ZP Members Alphonse D’Souza of Matra Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi and others were present.

| This mega tharmal power project was initiated by Karnataka BJP government and Nalin was VP of state unit of the party. If he is sincere in his assertions he should have resigned the MP/BJP post long back which he never did. This is one way of fooling the people and getting ready for next LS election in 2014.People should not trust these politicians be it BJP or Congress,as far as this project is concerned. | |
