Mangalore, May 12, 2013: Will JR Lobo, the first time MLA from the prestigious Mangalore South constituency make it to the new cabinet of the Siddaramaiah led Congress Government which will take charge on May 13, Monday? Well, if sources are to be believed Lobo stands a greater chances of getting a ministerial berth if the community criterion is taken into consideration.
However, if the Congress leadership decides against granting cabinet berth to first time MLAs then Lobo may not be able to make it. Apart from Lobo, there is KJ George who has the experience of holding several vital posts in the past. Reports meanwhile state that Lobo is intensely lobbying for a ministership.
As far as other MLAs from the district is concerned, Bantwal MLA Ramanatha Rai stands greater chances and reliable sources say he is all likely to get the vital home portfolio.
Sources also reveal that with Congress winning in 10 out of the 13 assembly seats in undivided DK, Siddaramaiah may think of granting cabinet berths to at least two MLAs from the district. If Ramanatha Rai’s selection is for sure, there is speculation over the other minister. It may be either UT Khader from Mangalore constituency, Abhayachandra Jain from Moodbidri or Vasanth Bangera from Belthangady.

The Ministerial jobs shouldn’t be awarded exclusively based on the longevity in the political life, but based on the individual’s experience in his or her personal professional career. Even though every political party in India showing gratitude and rewarding to the veterans of the political parties, that selection process may not be exactly beneficial to the nation or the State. Mr. JR Lobo is an experienced civil administator with a corruption-free record and he is highly qualified to be at the Ministerial chair, even with less span of life in his political career. BEST WISHES. |
