Voters’ list awareness program held in city

Mangalore, Oct 5, 2012: The Mangalore University College, the district information officer, the department of Kannada and culture, the department of education, and the Nehru Yuva Kendra today jointly organized an awareness program regarding the revision of voters’ list, which is currently being done in DK according to the guidelines of the Election Commission.
The aim of the program was to urge the people to register their names in the voters’ list.
DK Deputy Commissioner Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda inaugurated the students’ jatha at Nehru Maidan. Girish Navada and his team staged a street play at University College Auditorium. Dr. Laxminarayana Bhat inaugurated the formal program at the Ravindra Kalabhavana of the college.
Speaking on the occasion, lecturer Dr. Dayanand Nayak said that voting is a tool, which citizens can effectively use to eliminate corruption from India.
Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak, Assistant Commissioner M. V. Venkatesh, and many other officers were also present.
